Hey, This is me!

My name is Alexander Riedel and I am the face behind Travel Sales Riedel.

First, about me, I was born in 1991 so I turned 31 this year. I traveled to Japan for the first time in 2017 to visit a friend knowing nothing about this country besides what I have seen in Animes.

My visit here broadened my horizon, many things here are very different and I was surprised many times with really small things that are different here.

The first shock was when I arrived at the airport and I didn't know how to flush the toilet and suddenly I turned on the bidet by mistake and I jumped up from the toilet and got quite a good spray of water over me.

Around Osaka you have Kyoto, Nara and Kobe which are all cities in very different Styles.

Restaurant Front in Osaka.

Osaka is the "food capital" of Japan and is famous for the wide variety of different foods and the famous Takoyaki (たこ焼き), which is the classic Osaka snack: easy to make, with simple ingredients, and extremely tasty. The standard recipe for these ball shaped dumplings is a batter or eggs and flour filled with sliced octopus, ginger, spring onions, and tempura crumbs.

Takoyaki a delicious snack with octopus inside.

Another famous dish of Osaka is the Okonomiyaki (お好み焼き) it is a savory pancake made from eggs, flour, grated yam and shredded cabbage. To these basic ingredients, you can add whatever you like: pork, squid, shrimp, cheese, tomato… the list goes on. In fact “okonomiyaki” basically means “grilled stuff you like”.

Less than 30 minutes on the train from Osaka you can find Kyoto. It used to be the capital of Japan but now it is more of a cultural capital, where you can find beautiful old buildings, temples and Shrines.

Many companies and Stores don't have international reach so it is always difficult if you want to find something that is only available in Japan.

My Idea to build this shop started back 2020 during corona when friends, that I made here in Japan asked me to ship them products that they miss from here since they were not able to travel back here.
